the book that changed my life

Since this is English class, I want you to tell me what your favorite (or one that changed the way you thought about a subject) book or book series is.  Tell me why you like it so much.  Think about questions like:  Is there a special meaning behind it?  Does it relate to your life?  What was it like the first time you read it?  Do you like the characters?  Why does it speak to you so strongly?

The book that really stuck with me is Outliers by Malcolm Gladwell. Usually books that teachers assign aren't the most exciting, but I really enjoyed this book. Even though I read it pretty fast, I loved the messages it sent throughout the book. I loved how in the book there were many life stories that proved what the message was saying. It helped me relate it to my life more. The book showed me that in life you need to take advantage of opportunities that are given to you. I never thought of doing that until I felt like I was missing out on experiences. Also it made "practice makes perfect" clear to me. With both of those in mind, I have already been signing up for as many volleyball camps as possible for this summer. I want to become a better player and a well-rounded player. This connects with many aspects of my life. For example, balancing school with sports/activities and trying to have a social life too. But I would rather fill my schedule with the things I love to do than just sit at home. The first time I read this I read it pretty quickly because of the class but I think I will read it again and focus in on the stories more. The life stories that people shared on how they became successful inspired me to take control of every opportunity because you never know what good might come out of it. This spoke so strongly to me because of the characters. The characters were everyday people that either practiced their butt off to get to where they are now or they perfected their skill that they are good at. I try to keep in mind these messages when going day to day.
